National Parent Carer Participation Event – 2014
October 23, 2014
The event had a fantastic turn out with forums from across England meeting together. It was our largest event yet, and forum members fed back how great it was to hear from each other about their work.
Forums shared how they had addressed challenges of reaching more parent carers, structuring their forums, working with health, and reaching parent carers from black and minority ethnic groups.
We were pleased to have a key note speech by the Director of the Special Needs and Children’s Services from the Department for Education, Ann Gross. The afternoon session was with renowned barrister Steve Broach of Monckton Chambers, who was able to talk about the Care Act, and the impact it will have for parent carers and young people, and how forums can influence local developments.
